"Additional braking measures" of the Covid-19 epidemic will be put in place in the city after consultation with elected officials, announced Tuesday February 24 Matignon after an interview in the morning between Jean Castex and the mayor of the city, Patrice Vergriete.
The Prime Minister, who noted the "sharp deterioration of health indicators in recent hours," asks that the local consultation work of elected officials and public authorities of the territory make it possible to define the response best suited to the situation ", Matignon told AFP.
On Monday, the mayor of Dunkirk had requested an interview with Jean Castex to "urgently examine" the situation in his city, where the Covid-19 epidemic is soaring with an incidence rate of 901 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the agglomeration.
Unprecedented confinement
The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, exchanged Monday evening with Patrice Vergriete and his services confirmed that he would go there on Wednesday.
The Covid-19 epidemic is currently experiencing a resurgence in certain parts of the country which is leading the State to territorialize its measures.
On Monday, unprecedented confinement for the next two weekends was ordered in Nice and in 63 municipalities on the coast of the Alpes-Maritimes.
The prefecture of this department has also requested the closure for 15 days, from this Tuesday, of shops over 5,000 m², excluding pharmacies and food shops.
And the gauge is raised to 15 m² per person for businesses over 400 m².
The incidence rate of the Nice metropolis is however lower than that of the urban community of Dunkirk, with 700 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, against 588 for the Alpes-Maritime and 190 for the national average.
