A severe crisis recently erupted within the ranks of the Egyptian Wafd Party, which led to the ousting of 10 of its historical leaders, and the lifting of the party's cover on the former head of the parliamentary body of the party after a struggle that lasted for several months.

The crisis at the level of the form was linked to the disagreement over the form and names of the delegation's list of candidates for the legislative elections in its two parts, i.e. in the Senate and the House of Representatives, but analysts and partisans believe that the disagreements are further than that, and related to political and democratic visions within the party, and the nature of representation within the leadership.

In detail, the head of the Wafd Party, Counselor, Bahaa El-Din Abu Shaqa, recently issued decisions to dismiss 10 of the leaders of the Wafd Party, which he said “participated in a major conspiracy against the party,” as he put it in a press conference.

Abu Shaqa said that “the dismissed persons are Dr. Yasser Al-Hudhaibi, Tariq Sabaq, Muhammad Abdo, Muhammad Abdul-Alim Dawood, Nabil Abdullah, Hamdan al-Khalili, Hatem Raslan, Muhammad Helmy Sweilam, Hussein Mansour, and Muhammad Majdi Farhat, known as (Rabbit).” He also submitted a communication to The Public Prosecutor against the latter on the charge of "communicating with foreign channels", as Abu Shaqa announced, "the appointment of Suleiman Wahdan as the head of the parliamentary body of the party instead of the deputy Abdel-Alim Daoud, and the appointment of Muhammad Haniyeh, Hani Abaza, and Ayman Mahsab, as deputy heads of the parliamentary body of the party."

Conspiracy has come to an end

Abu Shaqa added that "the party was exposed to a conspiracy that has reached its end, and the party has almost completely fallen by using the means of fourth-generation warfare and through the war of rumors and social media, and this conspiracy is documented in sound, image and irrefutable evidence."

Abu Shuqa pointed out that “the conspirators wanted to hold a meeting of the High Authority on February 13th so that the Wafd Party would go forever,” indicating that he felt annoyed by the youth and elders of the delegation, and they carried a trust in his neck with the necessity to rescue the delegation and conduct quick cleansing, in order to preserve the delegation as part. Of the political system in Egypt, and a representative of the national opposition.

The representative of the parliamentary committee, Suleiman Wahdan, said after the dismissal decisions: "Undoubtedly, there was a conspiracy against the party that wanted to hijack the party and divert it from its liberal identity and seek the brotherhood of the party."

A delegation source, who requested anonymity, told "Emirates Today" that Abu Shaqa's decisions came as a culmination in an extended struggle within the delegation regarding its negotiations with the "National Future Party" and its options for the delegation's candidates in the Senate elections for the "National List for Supporting Egypt", which was renewed more sharply. In the negotiations of the Senate candidates, the crisis was in the personal and public, meaning that there were objections to imposing the daughter of the party leader on the list, and there were demands to withdraw from the list, and the crisis developed at the end of last January when Abu Shaqa announced his intention to resign on February 4, but it was a threat. Tactically, Abu Shaqa aimed to pressure his opponents on the one hand, and to prepare to confront them on the other hand, and then the crisis reached its end after the attack of MP Abdel-Alim Daoud, who belongs to the opposition wing of Abu Shaqa, the "Future of the Nation" party in Parliament, and accused him of distributing bribes in the elections, by describing him as “ The Kratin Party », which ended with its transfer to the Values Committee, which was considered an opportunity for the current leadership of the delegation to impose its perception.

boycott

Regarding the incident of his attack on the "Future of a Nation" party, Representative Abdel-Alim Daoud said in a statement broadcast on YouTube that, “In the first sessions of the House of Representatives, I expressed my opinion in accordance with Article 112 of the list, and my words did not deviate from the content of the aforementioned article, so I was surprised by a violent boycott by members of ( The future of a nation) even though boycotting the representatives is the compulsory right of the speaker of the House of Representatives as stipulated in the regulations, then my words were deleted from the record, I was removed from the hall, and I was referred to the Parliament office, and I suspended my attendance at the sessions and referred me to the Council of Values, and I complied with all decisions in respect of the law, the constitution and the regulations I did not come to this council clashing, not submissive, but expressing the will of the nation, and within my constitutional and legal rights.

Wafd leader Hussein Mansour (from the dismissed list) said, "When the consultant Abu Shuqa took over the negotiations with" The Future of a Nation ", he refused to present what he had reached with the supreme body of the delegation, and rejected the idea of withdrawal, since the delegations were with making an independent list for them.

He added, "The real conspiracy is to transfer the delegation's management and decision-making to the stars of the dissolved National Party, and to exclude the one who was elected by the delegation's supreme body as head of the party's parliamentary body."
