Berlin (dpa / bb) - The use of corona rapid tests in schools is basically a good thing from the point of view of the Berlin parents' representatives.

The chairman of the State Parents' Committee, Norman Heise, warns against too high expectations.

"It is a positive fact that the rapid tests are coming," said Heise of the German press agency.

However, it is not yet possible to estimate how high the proportion of teachers actually is who use the rapid tests.

According to the Senate Department for Education, they will be available to school staff from Monday when the schools in Berlin gradually reopen and some children in the first to third grades are initially being taught in school again.

The quick tests should be done by teachers who are trained for this by employees of the German Red Cross or the Malteser Aid Service.

Heise pointed out that this should take time.

"Most schools will only take the training courses during the week and then carry out tests step by step," said the parent representative.

"The question arises, how many will do that in the first week?"
