Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - A new wolf center in Hesse is to continue to accompany the return of the predator to the state in the future.

The center is located as the central contact point at the Hessian State Office for Nature Conservation, Environment and Geology (HLNUG) and is responsible for wolf monitoring and management, as the Ministry of the Environment announced in Wiesbaden on Monday.

A new wolf management plan was presented as a draft to the associations for grazing animals, nature conservation, agriculture and hunting last week.

"The wolf records of the last few weeks show that we have to reckon with a wolf anytime and anywhere in Hesse," explained Environment Minister Priska Hinz (Greens).

"Our primary goal is to have a common framework that is understandable and acceptable for all involved."

The wolf management should enable a low-conflict coexistence of wolves and grazing animals.

Among other things, according to the ministry, there are plans to provide more financial support to grazing animals.

For example, there should be additional money for areas with resident wolves.

In the planned wolf center, among other things, a wolf hotline by email or telephone as well as professional advice for individuals, animal owners, institutions, authorities and associations are to be set up.

"With the establishment of the new Wolf Center Hessen, all the threads in the HLNUG will soon come together when it comes to wolf," explained HLNUG President Thomas Schmid.
