Hanover (dpa / lni) - The Lower Saxony state government has welcomed plans by the federal government to change the vaccination ordinance.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) announced on Monday at the weekly conference call of the health ministers of the federal states and the federal government that they would make Covid-19 vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine available to employees in daycare centers as well as at primary and special schools with high priority the Lower Saxony Ministry of Health.

To this end, the federal government wants to change the vaccination ordinance, which regulates the vaccination sequence in a legally binding manner for all federal states.

"It is good that the Federal Minister of Health is now providing early vaccination at least for the employees in primary schools, special schools and day-care centers," emphasized Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD).

“However, this is only the first step.

It cannot be understood that the teachers are excluded from older children and young people.

The federal government should not do things by halves in this regard. "

Lower Saxony plans that this week the first people from the group with a high priority for a Covid vaccination can be vaccinated with the vaccine from Astrazeneca.

This would be possible if all persons under 65 years of age from the first group with the highest priority were offered a vaccination on site and Astrazeneca vaccine is still available.
