Düsseldorf (dpa) - Third division soccer team KFC Uerdingen has appealed against the deduction of three points due to the application to open insolvency proceedings with the German Football Association.

The DFB confirmed this on request.

If the objection is not granted, the club can lodge a written complaint with the DFB Presidium within a week of being notified, the association said.

The DFB game committee followed the game rules and imposed the appropriate penalty.

Normally the regulations in the 3rd division even provide for a deduction of nine points.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, an exception is currently in effect, which expires at the end of the season.

The financially troubled club had introduced a new investor in the form of the Noah Company from Armenia after the departure of President Mikhail Ponomarew in early February.
