The accident happened shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

A 27-year-old man was killed in a road accident under the Nantes bridge in Rennes.

The young biker, the only one involved, was obviously trying to escape the police, who wanted to check him.

According to the Rennes prosecutor's office, the man had been seen "traveling at high speed on the Quai de Châteaubriant", in the city center of the Breton capital, shortly before the tragedy.

He "did not stop at the various" stops "of this axis and drove quickly", then did not stop at a red light, according to Philippe Astruc.

According to the prosecutor, it is a car of the anti-crime brigade, flashing light on, which followed the young man in the streets of the city in order to carry out his control.

The biker would have continued on his way.

The police discovered the young man a little further lying on the ground "motionless and unconscious".

Alerted, the firefighters and the Samu quickly went to the scene but were unable to resuscitate the young accident victim.

"The death was noted at 00:28", according to the Rennes prosecutor's office.

The biker "was alone at the time of the accident"

According to several residents interviewed by the police, the young biker "was alone at the time of the accident".

The police car only arrived on the scene in a second time.

Aged 27, the victim was an employee of a transport company.

An autopsy of his body has been ordered.
