With the generalization of teleworking due to the Covid-19 pandemic, osteopaths do not know the crisis.

In some practices, requests for consultations have exploded since the start of the health crisis, for ailments linked to poor installation or lack of physical exercise.

REPORT

This is one of the many consequences of the health crisis and teleworking which makes us more sedentary: osteopaths note problems linked to teleworking and the lack of activity and travel.

Almost a year after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, some practices, such as that of Loïc Le Glatin, based in Evry in Essonne, are seeing a very strong increase in consultations.

Installed for 35 years, this osteopath notices that the patients follow and resemble each other.

"Forcing yourself to move"

"I have more and more pain that comes from the scapula to the elbow, passing through the wrist, and also in the lower back", explains Christian, computer engineer who teleworks five days out of 5. So the he osteopath asks his patient about his new working conditions.

"I remain seated in my chair from 9 am to 6 pm, and I am not necessarily well seated", Christian replies.

Now accustomed to these consultations, Loïc Le Glatin is not surprised.

"We notice an increase in the frequency of consultations because people move less," he explains.

To treat his patients, some manipulations are necessary, but also some advice.

“You really have to force yourself to move from time to time,” insists Loïc Le Glatin.

Because teleworking is waning.

According to a survey commissioned by the Ministry of Labor at the end of January, among workers who can telework easily, 64% have teleworked at least partially, figures lower than those observed by a study carried out last November.
