Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate CDU has accused the state government of unsettling the volunteer firefighters in the country because of the planned assistance with corona rapid test stations.

The announcement on Friday was "uncoordinated and not thought through", criticized the CDU state parliament member Gordon Schnieder on Monday.

It is important to include the local fire chiefs in the planning and to give all helpers a “binding priority vaccination offer”.

In addition, such a service should only be voluntary, and there must be an expense allowance.

CDU parliamentary group leader Christian Baldauf asked the Bundeswehr to ask about helpers.

In addition, the state must provide its own staff for the planned rapid test stations.

The state government announced on Friday that Rhineland-Palatinate was in the starting blocks for the nationwide introduction of free corona rapid tests.

Before doing this, however, the federal government must ensure that the tests are available and can be billed.

In order to set up the largest possible offer, the fever clinics in the rural districts and urban districts are to be used as test stations, some of them reactivated and upgraded, for the “Testing for All” project.

Further test stations are to be organized and managed as comprehensively as possible by the local volunteer fire brigades as well as association and non-association communities.

Employees of the rapid test stations should be entitled to a vaccination against the coronavirus with the highest priority.

Pharmacies, doctors' and dental practices were also called upon to participate in the rapid tests.
