Oberstdorf (dpa) - Despite the corona-related exclusion of spectators, thousands of people are expected in Oberstdorf in the coming days at the Nordic World Ski Championships.

A total of 4500 participants should travel to the Allgäu for the title fights, as the organizers of the world championship wrote on request.

Among them are 750 athletes from over 60 countries.

From February 23 to March 7, a total of 24 World Championship decisions will be made in the three sports of ski jumping, cross-country skiing and Nordic combined.

Athletes, officials and journalists are said to have been tested closely for the corona virus with PCR and antigen tests.

The hygiene concept had been refined again and again until shortly before the start of the event.

The hotel staff in the 10 000-inhabitant village right on the border with Austria should also be tested regularly.
