21 February 2021 Italians, despite the dramatic situation created by the Coronavirus, do not lose faith in the possibility of returning soon to travel and reach holiday resorts, especially in Italy.

According to Unioncamere data, more than 50% of compatriots, over the age of 18, are planning the holidays for 2021 having Italy as their destination despite the Covid pandemic.

In fact, everything will depend on the progress of the Coronavirus.

Among potential vacationers, 80% indicate Italy as one of their favorite destinations.

These data are deduced from the most recent surveys of the

Observatory

on the Economy of Tourism

of the Chambers of

Commerce

by Isnart and Unioncamere.

The forecasts describe the persistence of the crisis in the tourism sector and the analysis shows that in the first three months of 2021, losses are expected, compared to 2019, equal to approximately 64% of Italian flows and 85% of international ones.

In the first quarter of 2021, 8 billion euros in revenues are estimated.

In

the 2020 budget,

the revenues deriving from tourism spending recorded a decrease of 53 billion euros compared to 2019. The decline in revenues is attributable to the sharp reduction in international presences in the summer months where peaks of minus 73% of presences were recorded .

In 2020, 75% of the hotel and non-hotel rooms available remained unsold.

There were improvements only in the months of July and August when in July an average of 46% of the accommodations were occupied and 69% of the rooms on average.

For the

Minister of Tourism, Massimo Garavaglia, it

is necessary to find resources for tourism within the budget of 32 billion, by signing a protocol with the Regions.

Garavaglia specified that Italy has lost market share in tourism in the last 10 years, growing by 4.5%, our competitors by 6.5%.

Market shares must be recovered according to Minister Garavaglia, recalling the words of Prime Minister Mario Draghi for the restart of the tourism industry.

"We will speak with the premier and colleagues: the resources must be found within the budget of 32 billion".

And he explains that he wants to sign a protocol with the Regions: "We all work together, as a team, to promote Italy in the world".

In

the Milleproroghe Decree

, six months more have been provided for using the

holiday bonus

: an amendment has been approved that moves the deadline for using the bonus from 30 June to 31 December of this year.
