Karlsruhe (dpa) - 1. FC Nürnberg has taken a first step out of the sporting crisis thanks to Mats Möller Daehli.

With his last-minute goal (90th minute), the Norwegian ensured the Franks 1-0 win at Karlsruher SC on Sunday.

With the second win in the new year, the team of coach Robert Klauss moved into the lower midfield of the 2nd Bundesliga and increased the gap to a direct relegation zone to eight points.

This should reduce the pressure on Klauss for the time being.

For KSC it was the first defeat after eight games without bankruptcy.

In a weak game in the Karlsruhe Wildparkstadion, Fabian Nürnberger had the greatest chance of the guests for a long time in the 21st minute, but the 21-year-old failed with a lob at the strongly reacting KSC goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck.

The FCN had major problems at times with the Karlsruhe lawn, which was in extremely poor condition.

A smooth game developed only rarely.

But none of that should matter to the Franks, because Möller Daehli used a rebound to the winning goal shortly before the end.
