Hochspeyer (dpa) - A 71-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an overtaking maneuver on the Hochspeyer bypass (Kaiserslautern district).
The police headquarters in West Palatinate announced in the evening that he disregarded oncoming traffic on Bundesstrasse 37 on Sunday afternoon and collided with a 30-year-old's car.
As a result of the collision, the car threw into the oncoming traffic and hit a car there.
The motorcyclist from Baden-Württemberg succumbed to his injuries at the accident site.
The five occupants of the two cars suffered minor injuries and some had to be treated in a hospital.
The vehicles were totaled.
