Munich (dpa / lby) - In a laboratory in Munich, an experiment with potentially dangerous hydrogen sulfide went wrong.

Five chemical laboratory technicians had experimented with the substance, which then leaked, the fire department announced on Saturday.

Due to the smell of rotten eggs, they quickly fled the test laboratory at the university and called the fire and rescue services.

The laboratory technicians came to a hospital purely as a precaution, as a spokesman emphasized.

The fire brigade then found no danger during tests, all measured values were below the limit values in the incident on Friday.

"At no time was there any danger to the residents of the surrounding buildings or to walkers."

Hydrogen sulfide is flammable and toxic if the concentration is too high.
