In London, many Britons understand the decision of the couple, who want to protect their privacy.

Others hope to see Charles and Diana's son return one day.

This time, the break is well and truly over.

A year after the announcement of their withdrawal from official life, Prince Harry, grandson of Elizabeth II, and his wife Meghan, lost their last official titles after confirming to the Queen their final withdrawal from the British royal family, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday.

This news comes as no surprise, as the couple have already expressed their intention to move away from media pressure and their desire for a life independent of royalty.

But it is nonetheless a blow to the royal family, Harry being the darling of the English, and his couple with Meghan embodying modernity and the renewal of the monarchy.

Across the Channel, the British are divided over the decision of Charles and Diana's son and his wife.

But many understand it, like Tom and Manuel.

"They were harassed by the media and tabloids, which were bitter against Meghan", they recall, highlighting in particular the strong media pressure around the former actress, "perhaps because she is mixed race, that she is American or that she does not have the usual profile ".

"It's a shame, it felt good to see someone like her in the royal family."

To them, Harry's decision is just as understandable.

"He has always lived in the spotlight: when he took his first steps, when he got married. It's hard for anyone! If he doesn't want this life, it doesn't. should not be forced on him. "

"He abandons his country and his family"

Tina is not of the same opinion, and hopes that one day Harry will return to the royal family.

"He was born into the royal family, and now he is abandoning his country and his family for Meghan," she regrets, before painting a harsh portrait of Meghan Markle.

"She has big ambitions," she squeaks.

"She married a British prince just to enter the United States and get rich."

By leaving the royal family, the couple lose their charitable patronages and Harry must relinquish all of his military titles.

"Although everyone is saddened by their decision, the Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family," the palace stressed.

On Sunday, the couple also revealed that they were expecting a second child.
