Düsseldorf (dpa) - Consumers in Germany prefer to do their online purchases on the weekend.

Shopping day number one is also Saturday for internet shoppers, according to a representative survey of 1270 consumers by the market research company NielsenIQ.

There is also an above-average number of online purchases on Friday and Sunday, preferably between 6 and 10 p.m.

According to the survey, the most unpopular shopping day among online shoppers is Monday.

Around half of the online shoppers surveyed stated that they had been directly or indirectly affected by the Corona crisis in the past few months - for example through a loss of income or illnesses that they suffered themselves, in their families or among friends.

According to Nielsen, this had clearly demonstrable effects on the shopping behavior of this group.

The consumers concerned have often become “super users” in online retail, reported NielsenIQ expert Sandra Bräunlein-Reuss.

In all purchasing categories from clothing to food to electronics, they made significantly more purchases online than consumers who were not affected.
