Vaccine against covid-19 has been delayed to some extent compared with the first prognoses.

In many places there is the capacity to vaccinate, but there is not enough vaccine.

When it comes to healthcare staff in Östergötland, the vaccine shortage is not as big a problem.

It is not appropriate to vaccinate too many of the staff at the same time.

- At most, we want a unit to vaccinate a third of its staff precisely because we know that you can get mild symptoms, says Rickard Lundin at Region Östergötland.

Takes height for awkward staff

Side effects such as fever and body aches have occurred shortly after receiving the vaccine.

Staff who are not healthy should not work and therefore the region wants to divide the vaccination so that healthcare does not suffer from staff shortages.

Figures from Thursday show that Region Östergötland has had time to vaccinate around 7,000, who work with various forms of care.

Another around 2800 have had time to receive dose two and are thus fully vaccinated.

The figures include staff from both municipal care and the region's care.

A quarter left on Gotland

On Gotland, about 75 percent of the care staff have been vaccinated so far.

It is difficult to get an exact figure because vaccinations have been performed by various organizations, including occupational health care.

Staff in the Gotland Region have of course been vaccinated, but also staff in privately run care homes.

When it comes to vaccination in general, Gotland hopes to be able to start vaccinating people in phase 2 during weeks 9, 10 and 11.
