On several occasions, passengers and train staff have been exposed to both threats and violence on the trains between Örebro and Laxå, but it is in Kumla that it all culminated several times.

SJ has taken a number of measures to overcome the problem, such as increased manning on the trains, security efforts and increased cooperation with the police.

A drastic measure

- It is of course a rather drastic measure not to stay at a station, and a measure that can be seen as an absolute last resort, says business manager Jan Kyrk in a press release.

For a year now, the police have been carrying out a special effort in Kumla to reduce crime and prevent disturbances.

According to her, the fact that you have now started to have problems on the trains is something that you have just started working on.

- It is a new area and we urge SJ to report all incidents to the police, otherwise we have no knowledge of what happened.

We are currently working together with Kumla municipality and SJ and will work with them to see how we can best proceed.

If the trains did not stop in Kumla, it would be very unfortunate.

A decision on a temporary stay in Kumla can be made quickly and enforced immediately, but that decision has not yet been made.
