It was not an accident.

Last April, a nonagenarian was found dead, his body charred, in the fire of his house, in Pontmain in Mayenne.

Almost a year later, the Le Mans prosecutor's office announced that two suspects, aged 22 and 31, were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention this week for the murder of this elderly man.

About fifteen people from their entourage were interviewed.

After the discovery of the body, legal information had been opened while "the scientific expertises carried out demonstrated the criminal origin of the incident and revealed traces of violent blows to the victim before the fire", indicates Delphine Dewailly the prosecutor of Le Mans in a press release.

The suspicions fell on these two men, involved in violence committed on an elected official of the municipality, the day before the disaster.

The suspects, who risk life imprisonment, are also “potentially involved” in the death of an elderly person in January 2020 in the Vosges, specifies the prosecution.
