President Emmanuel Macron and his Prime Minister Jean Castex saw their popularity ratings significantly increase in February compared to January, according to a BVA * poll published on Friday.

The health strategy of the executive, which has ruled out for the time being a reconfinement, would be linked to these results according to the polling institute.

On the rise among supporters of the left and right

The French surveyed are 42% to declare having a good opinion of Emmanuel Macron.

This is a result up five points compared to the previous month and which joins the levels of October and November, according to this study carried out for Orange and RTL.

Favorable opinions progress well beyond the sympathizers of his own camp (96%; +5 points), on the left (LFI: +10 points; EELV: +10 points) as on the right (LR: +7 points) at the 'exception of RN sympathizers (17%, stable).

Jean Castex is now credited with 42% of good opinions as well, up 6 points from last month.

This result puts a stop to the continuous decline in his popularity since his appointment (from 56% in July to 36% in January) and he is no longer left behind by the Head of State.

Management of the health crisis regains credit

Its popularity is on the rise regardless of the political sensitivity of the French, with nevertheless a more marked positive dynamic among supporters of Les Républicains (43%; +12 points) and RN (34%; +11 points).

"The executive couple benefits directly and clearly from their choices concerning the health crisis", advances the institute which adds that "the dynamic is even clearer for its Prime Minister who, let us remember, had carried the announcement of the non-reconfinement ".

Almost 2/3 of French people (63%) said they approved of this decision not to re-define, even locally, according to the Institute.

Embodied by this decision, the government's management of the health crisis is regaining credit (39%; +9 points).

* Survey carried out on February 17 and 18 by Internet with a representative sample of 1,003 people, aged 18 and over, according to the quota method, with a margin of error of 1.4 to 3.1 points.
