Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Cologne district government has intervened in the case of an already vaccinated member of the state parliament.

After the FDP politician Ralph Bombis (49) had confirmed to the WDR that he and his wife had been vaccinated because of their work, the district government wrote to the health authorities in Cologne and in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis and asked for a statement, according to a spokeswoman.

According to WDR, Bombis runs three retirement and nursing homes in Rösrath, Bergisch Gladbach and Cologne.

In addition to the FDP politician, AfD parliamentary group leader Markus Wagner (57) informed the WDR on request that he and his wife had already been vaccinated.

Wagner owns a residential facility for people with a chronic mental illness or disability in Bad Oeynhausen.

Both MPs told the broadcaster that they wanted to be a role model for the employees.

Bombis added on Twitter: "And for the sake of completeness: As someone who is also regularly in the care facilities, it was above all about the protection of residents and employees with whom you come into contact."

According to the Cologne district government, a violation of the vaccination sequence - should it turn out to be such - would not have any major consequences.

The Ministry of Health announced that the supervisory authority could report a suspicion of a crime.

In fact, the current vaccination ordinance does not provide for any penalties or fines for “pre-pushers”.
