The movement of cars on the Crimean bridge was blocked due to heavy snowfall and wind.

"Due to the lack of visibility, heavy snowfall, strong crosswind on February 19, 2021 from 06:00 Moscow time, traffic on the transport crossing through the Kerch Strait in both directions is closed," the message says.

The Ministry of Transport of the republic, in turn, reported on the work on cleaning the roadway, which can take up to several hours.

“Road equipment is clearing the entrances to the Crimean bridge and the crossing itself, traffic police posts have been set up that send motorists to Kerch,” said Deputy Minister of Transport Nikolai Lukashenko.

The department also recommended that citizens refrain from leaving the territory of the mainland of Russia, and those who are already on the way should stop in nearby cities and towns until the announcement of the lifting of traffic restrictions.

Later, the regional Ministry of Transport reported that due to a traffic jam in the area of ​​the exit from the Crimean bridge towards Kerch, a sediment tank for cars was organized on the basis of the inactive airport "Kerch" for 600 vehicles.

In addition, in MBOU "School No. 4" local authorities have created a heating point.

In total, over the past day, according to the latest data from the department, almost 10 thousand km of regional and intermunicipal highways have been cleared of snow.

I urge the residents of Crimea not to drive their cars today, ”said the Minister of Transport of the Republic Yevgeny Isakov.

In turn, the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations announced the creation of an operational headquarters to deal with the consequences of bad weather.

Specialists of the department are monitoring the situation, and are also carrying out work to remove cars from snow drifts.

To control the situation, the department, among other measures, used two groups of unmanned aerial vehicles.

"On the territory of the Crimean peninsula, a storm warning remains ... On February 19, in the Crimea, it is expected: snow, sleet, in some places very heavy precipitation, fog, blizzard ... Strengthening of the northwestern wind 20-25 m / s," the message says. departments.

Against this background, rescuers announced an emergency warning in the region until February 21 due to the threat of avalanches.

Due to weather conditions, the road to the Ai-Petri plateau is closed on both sides.

At the same time, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region told RIA Novosti that the state traffic police in the Belogorsk region and in the Feodosia region are redirecting cars from the Tavrida highway to the Feodosia-Simferopol highway.

Several dozen pieces of equipment were used to clear the Tavrida.

The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, commenting on the situation with bad weather, expressed the hope that the clearing of the Crimean bridge should be completed in the near future.

He wrote about this on his page in the social network "VKontakte".

The head of the region noted that the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Russian Guard, the Ministry of Defense, and Chernomorneftegaz were thrown to eliminate the congestion.

"Hot meals are organized at the bus station in Kerch, there are dozens of cars and buses, all people receive the necessary help," Aksyonov said.

Recall that over the past several weeks in a number of regions of Russia there were heavy snowfalls, which led to difficulties in the operation of transport, power outages and other disruptions in the operation of infrastructure.

Thus, heavy snowfalls took place in the Krasnodar Territory, including Sochi.

In a number of districts of the city there were problems with electricity, several thousand people were left without electricity.

Due to the large amount of snow, the Elbrus resort was closed on February 17 and 18.

Problems with the supply of electricity and the operation of transport due to severe snowstorms were noted in the Sakhalin Region, Dagestan, Khabarovsk Territory, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. 

In Moscow, due to heavy snowfall from 11 to 14 February, 10-point traffic jams were recorded, as well as delays in the operation of ground transport.

Dozens of flights were delayed and canceled at the city's airports.

In particular, on February 13, Domodedovo announced the creation of an operational headquarters to coordinate work in extreme weather conditions.

The press service of the airport noted that it takes "longer than usual" to service the aircraft.
