Zwickau / Saarbrücken (dpa) - Sports director Toni Wachsmuth from third division soccer team FSV Zwickau has criticized the events surrounding the cancellation after the short-term failure of the catch-up game at 1. FC Saarbrücken.

“It's not professional.

Exactly what happened on Wednesday should actually be avoided, ”said Wachsmuth at the FSV press conference on Thursday.

He also hopes that the German Football Association (DFB) will deal with the cancellation: “I think the DFB will ask what the reason is.

I'm pretty sure about it."

The game in Saarbrücken had to be canceled on Wednesday evening about 75 minutes before kick-off.

The responsible court commission and the team of referees came to this decision in coordination with both teams, as the lawn in the Ludwigsparkstadion was under water.

On Tuesday the court commission declared the lawn to be playable.

«We were told that the game is in no way compromised.

Now we come here and the place looks like this.

That is not entirely understandable for me ”, Wachsmuth had expressed his incomprehension about the events immediately after the rejection.

According to a message from 1. FC Saarbrücken, meltwater from deeper and deep-frozen layers of earth had pushed up overnight and flooded the place.

"This unpredictable and short-term unavoidable event has now led to a surprising game cancellation," said the Saarlanders' homepage.

The newcomer had to move to Frankfurt for his home games last because the lawn in Ludwigspark was not playable.

Another catch-up date for the game against Zwickau has not yet been set.
