Hanover (dpa / lni) - Lower Saxony's state government can order the corona rules as before without a vote in the state parliament.

The SPD and CDU rejected a legislative proposal by the FDP, which provided for a parliamentary reservation, against the votes of the opposition on Thursday.

FDP parliamentary group leader Stefan Birkner had argued that the state parliament had to be the decisive place for the corona debates.

This would lead to more transparency and greater acceptance of the rules.

Health Minister Carola Reimann (SPD), on the other hand, pointed out that the government is empowered to issue the corona ordinances under the Federal Infection Protection Act.

This enables rapid and effective action against the spread of the virus.
