After the redeeming first medal by Arnd Peiffer with silver in the singles, the German team in the singles mixed relay hopes for the next sense of achievement.

Hopes rest on Franziska Preuss and Erik Lesser.

So far, Preuss has narrowly missed a medal twice and is the most stable in the women's team.

Lesser had been spared after his previously weak performances in the mixed relay and in the sprint in the classic over 20 kilometers.

Last year the duo won silver in Antholz, Italy.

The title fights in Cortina d'Ampezzo are slowly coming to an end.

The women's giant slalom is the fourth from last competition in Italy.

The DSV is only represented by Andrea Filser, who is aiming for the top 15 and thus a personal career best in a single start.

Her bronze medal, which she won with the German team on Wednesday, should inspire the 27-year-old.

The big favorites are US superstar Mikaela Shiffrin, defending champion Petra Vlhova from Slovakia and the Italian giant slalom specialist Marta Bassino.
