Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The state government again extended the lockdown last week, again leaving the state parliament outside of this decision.

At a special meeting today (10.30 a.m.), Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) is to present the further corona policy to parliament in a government declaration.

The AfD parliamentary group and its former chairman André Poggenburg had requested the special meeting last week.

Together they have a quarter of the seats in the state parliament.

According to the rules of procedure, Parliament must be convened if this number of MPs supports a corresponding request.

With this right of opposition, the AfD had already enforced a special corona meeting in October.

Then as now, the state government announced in retrospect that it also wanted to convene a special meeting.

The left has also been criticizing for months that parliament is not involved in the corona policy.

The party is therefore calling for a pandemic council, in which representatives from science and business should also be involved in addition to the state parliament and state government.

The Prime Minister had so far rejected calls for greater involvement of the state parliament.

Haseloff had emphasized that he was inviting the leaders of the government factions to the cabinet meetings and saw the House as involved in crisis management.
