Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The seven-day incidence of new corona infections continues to decline in the southwest.

The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week was, according to the State Health Office on Thursday (as of 4 p.m.) at 41.2 - after 41.6 the day before.

The number of total confirmed corona infections rose by 935 to 308,938 compared to the previous day, the number of deaths from or in connection with Sars-CoV-2 increased by 42 to 7,875.

According to an estimate, 286 550 previously infected people are considered recovered.

In the meantime, 16 of the 44 urban and rural districts are below the mark of 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week;

9 districts have a seven-day incidence greater than 50.

Two of these districts are also still above the value of 100: the Schwäbisch Hall district (120.5) and the Hohenlohe district (100.3).

The federal and state governments decided to take further steps to open the lockdown on March 7th.

However, such steps should only be taken by the federal states if a “stable” incidence of no more than 35 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants has been reached within seven days.

Then - according to the decision - retailers, museums and galleries as well as businesses with body-friendly services should be able to reopen.

Around 373,000 people in the southwest have now been vaccinated at least once.

The number of those who have already received a second vaccination rose to more than 181,000. The number of detected cases of coronavirus variants is now 2485. Most of these are variant B, which was first discovered in Great Britain. 1.1.7.
