The statements of the Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir angered his fans after announcing a singing tour in a number of Palestinian cities, including Jerusalem and Haifa, along with a number of international stars, including the German singer of Egyptian origins, Adel Al-Tawil, and from Austria Huber Vonguez, and Twizler from the pop group Marley, as well as Mohamed Mounir and his band led by Sherif Nour.

Munir had confirmed - in previous press statements - that he did not refuse to pass even if it was via Israel to sing for peace, according to his description, which sparked controversy and anger from his fans, who belong to different age groups.

The beginning of the crisis

Al-Jazeera quoted a source close to Muhammad Munir - who refused to be named - that the crisis had started during a dialogue session with a journalist, as Munir stated that he had received an offer to participate in a concert in Palestine with international stars, and that he was ready to be a peace delegate, following the approach of the Egyptian President. The late Muhammad Anwar Sadat, and Munir continued that if the entry was through Israel, he would not object to it, especially since the parties would be sponsored by security agencies.

A wave of anger was raised by the audience of the overwhelmingly popular Egyptian singer, especially since the official position of the Egyptian artistic unions rejects all forms of normalization with Israel, which includes visiting Palestine after obtaining a pass stamp from the Israeli authorities.

These parties were supposed to be held under the auspices of private security agencies - not specified - on the condition that the preparation procedures for the parties are confidential and officially announced, which angered those parties, and those close to him advised him to apologize for the parties temporarily and to clarify the matter to absorb the anger of his fans.

Hours did not pass after Munir’s statements, until he announced the cancellation of his aforementioned concerts without explaining the reasons, and close to the Egyptian singer advised the necessity to retract those statements.

For his part, Mounir assured - to Egyptian newspapers - that his intention was to bring joy to the hearts of the masses in Palestine, and that the matter is due to the relations between Egypt and Palestine as well, and the security authorities have asked Munir not to talk about the matter again or to provide statements about it.

King credit

Mohamed Mounir lost part of his popular credit in recent years, after he presented the song "Heroes of Men" on the occasion of Police Day on January 25, the date coinciding with the January 25 revolution, at a time when the Egyptian singer, nicknamed "King", ignored the talk about The tenth anniversary of the Egyptian revolution, especially since he was the author of the song "How to", one of the most famous songs associated with the Egyptian revolution.

Mounir has been exposed to successive health crises in recent years that affected his artistic presence, coinciding with the death of his brother-in-law, business manager and his long-life friend Mahmoud Aba Al-Yazid a year ago, and this reflected on Mounir's psychological state, so he did not participate in new concerts for months.

Syndicate position

In statements to local newspapers, Khaled Bayoumi, treasurer of the Syndicate of Musical Professions and General Secretary of the Federation of Art Syndicates, said that Munir is an ambassador for Egyptian art and knows well the value of art, and that the artist is always in a state of supply and demand, and as long as there is nothing that prevents concerts in Palestine and their entry By the legal path, for us it is welcome, and Munir cannot risk his fans entering Palestine with a stamp from the Israeli authorities, as it is a mistake that could put him in embarrassment in front of his fans.

Bayoumi added that only Mounir knows the details of the contract, and the union has not reached anything so far.

The crisis comes after what the Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan was exposed months ago when activists published - through social media platforms - a group of pictures that he collected with Israeli artists at a party in the Emirate of Dubai, and Ramadan was subjected to severe criticism, especially with his insistence on not apologizing to the public, which prompted the Syndicate The acting professions called for an urgent investigation, in which he made it clear that he did not know the nationalities of the people who asked to be photographed with him.
