Wiesbaden / Frankfurt (dpa / lhe) - The Frankfurt lawyer Seda Basay-Yildiz is honored with a price for moral courage.

The Ludwig Beck Prize of the state capital Wiesbaden is endowed with 10,000 euros.

Basay-Yildiz has "demonstrated civil courage in an outstanding manner in the sense of Ludwig Beck," said Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende (SPD) on Thursday.

Seda Basay-Yildiz represented the family of a murder victim in the NSU trial.

Since 2018, she has received death threats signed "NSU 2.0".

The award ceremony "honored Seda Basay-Yildiz's remarkable handling of the right-wing terrorist threats after her standing as a lawyer for the family of a victim of the NSU murders," the city said.

The award ceremony is to take place on July 2nd in the town hall's ballroom.

The city announced that the laudation will be given by ZDF presenter Dunja Hayali.

With the Ludwig Beck Prize, the state capital Wiesbaden honors people or institutions who work with particular moral courage for the common good, peaceful coexistence of people, social justice and the basic principles of democracy and the rule of law.

Ludwig Beck was a German general who participated in the unsuccessful assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944.
