Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate climate list failed before the administrative court in Koblenz with an urgent application against the design of the voting slip for the state election.

Measures and decisions that, like the design of the ballot, are directly related to the election process, cannot be challenged with an application in the urgent procedure, the court announced on Thursday.

In order to ensure that the election is carried out as smoothly as possible, legal protection against a state election is limited.

However, an appeal against the decision is possible at the Higher Administrative Court.

The climate list had complained that the ballot in the column for the abbreviation for the state vote provided an empty field for their list - of the 13 parties and associations this is only the case for the climate list.

"We see a clear unequal treatment in this version of the ballot paper compared to other parties," says the top candidate of the state list, Maurice Conrad.

He announced that if necessary he would go to the constitutional court of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The name of the Rhineland-Palatinate Climate List is not an abbreviation, explained the Koblenz judges.

The list would have had the option of specifying an abbreviation in its statutes and indicating this in the nomination.

But no use was made of this.
