Aurore Bergé, deputy president of the LREM group in the National Assembly, criticized this Thursday the "demagoguery" of some local elected officials who plead for a reopening of places of culture "a few months before the regional elections".

She said on LCI "hope" for a reopening "as quickly as possible" of cinemas, theaters and museums, while noting that "when it is the local elected officials" who demand it, "a few months before the regional elections, we can perhaps also see there a desire for controversy ”and these requests are“ not necessarily very relevant ”.

She thus called for “avoiding excessive demagoguery”.

Justice called to decide

The large cities represented by the France Urbaine association said they were ready in mid-February to proceed with an “experimental” reopening of museums, theaters and cinemas in order to find with the State the “necessary adaptations” for the resumption of their activities.

Without waiting, the mayor (PS) of Issoudun (Indre) André Laignel, also vice-president of the Association of mayors of France (AMF), announced on February 12 the reopening of the city museum.

A reopening on which the Administrative Court of Limoges must rule on this Thursday.

In Perpignan, the justice suspended the reopening of four municipal museums which had been decided by the mayor RN Louis Aliot against the health directives of the government.
