Essen (dpa / lnw) - After a murder attempt on her 39th wedding anniversary, a woman from Marl in the Recklinghausen district was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday.
The defendant had confessed to having stabbed her husband with a knife in July 2020.
The doctors later counted seven stab wounds - in the back and chest.
According to the judgment of the Essen jury court, there was an acute danger to life.
The background to the fact is said to have been a completely broken relationship.
After the 67-year-old German suffered a stroke, her husband insulted her more aggressively, controlled her and practically incapacitated her.
"In the end, the situation had come to such a point that the defendant developed a thirst for murder," said Judge Jörg Schmitt when giving reasons for the verdict.
The verdict is attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm.
It is not final.
