The UN Security Council held a ministerial meeting on the response to the new coronavirus, and Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern about "vaccine inequality", saying that vaccines are biased to some countries.

The United States and China have emphasized their willingness to cooperate with an international framework for equitable distribution, but the focus is on how the international community can work together to close the gap.

The meeting was held online on the 17th, chaired by Foreign Minister Raab of the United Kingdom.

At the beginning, Secretary-General António Guterres expressed concern about "vaccine disparity" because vaccination was biased to some countries, and led by WHO and others to the COVAX facility, an international framework aiming for fair distribution of vaccines. I called for support from (Vaccine).

In response, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken contributed more than $ 200 million, or more than 21 billion yen in Japanese yen, as the Biden administration withdrew the policy of the previous administration to withdraw from WHO. "We are planning a considerable amount of financial support for COVAX," he said.

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said he has provided COVAX with 10 million doses of Chinese-made vaccine and is providing it to 53 countries, including developing countries, free of charge.

The United Nations says that as the mutant virus spreads, the supply of vaccines to developing countries with vulnerable health systems should be urgent, and the focus is on whether the international community can work together to support developing countries.
