The Emir of Kuwait orders the postponement of the National Assembly sessions for a month, starting from tomorrow

The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawwaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, ordered to postpone the National Assembly sessions for a month, starting tomorrow, Thursday.

This evening, the Kuwaiti Cabinet announced the issuance of an Amiri decree to postpone the holding of National Assembly meetings for a month, starting Thursday, February 18, 2021, based on Article 106 of the Constitution.

The Emir of Kuwait issued an Emiri Decree on January 24, appointing Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled as Prime Minister and assigning him to choose ministers.

This came after the Emir of Kuwait accepted the resignation of the government headed by Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and assigned it to conduct urgent work until the new government was formed.

The resignation of the Prime Minister came after the resignation of the ministers, due to "the outcome of the current developments in the relationship between the National Assembly and the government."

Three deputies in Parliament, who was elected last December, submitted a request to question the Prime Minister on the fifth of January, accusing him of not cooperating with the National Assembly.

This request was supported by about 34 other deputies, who declared their intention to support the interrogation, which means that 37 deputies out of fifty support the questioning of the prime minister.
