Berlin (dpa / bb) - Vaccinations for teachers would be the right step from the point of view of the Berlin School Management Association (IBS).

"That would be very good.

There is a kind of security, "said IBS chairwoman Astrid-Sabine Busse on Wednesday of the German press agency.

"I think most of my colleagues would really appreciate that."

This is currently not possible because teachers are not yet in the vaccination order in the order specified by the federal government.

Busse advocated vaccinating teachers in schools if possible.

"That would be much more efficient," said the head of a primary school in Neukölln.

If mobile vaccination teams, as they were previously used to vaccinate residents of nursing homes across Berlin, could vaccinate a school in one day, a lot of time and effort could be saved.

Otherwise, the almost 100 employees at your school would have to make an appointment at the vaccination center, preferably so that they don't have to teach.

From Monday the schools in Berlin will open gradually again.

Busse considers the planned use of rapid tests to be correct.

The tests should be carried out by teachers and educators who are trained for them.

«We already have the team, six colleagues.

When they are trained, we offer time slots and then I can have myself tested before the service, ”said Busse.

"The rapid tests were delivered today - in sufficient numbers."

The training courses must still be available.

Two tests per employee are planned per week.

"Unfortunately voluntarily," said the headmistress.

"I think that should be a must if you work in school."

Busse thinks it is good that schools are reopening at least for children in the first to third grade.

"Even the best digital and analog offerings cannot replace face-to-face teaching," she said.

"We'll start with the little ones, I think that two weeks later you can see whether this has any effect on the number of infections, which I hope not."

Then you have to think about the older children.

«And you have to see what the mutation does.

It's a different situation now than it was a few weeks ago. "
