Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani met Wednesday with the Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri in Doha.

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) stated that the meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation relations, especially in economic affairs, in addition to issues of common concern.

The agency indicated that the Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the State of Qatar's continued support for the brothers in Lebanon for development and prosperity.

For his part, the Lebanese Prime Minister-designate congratulated the State of Qatar on the Gulf reconciliation.

This visit comes days after the Qatari Foreign Minister to Lebanon, which included a meeting with his former Lebanese counterpart, Gebran Bassil, and a contact with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, as part of Qatari efforts to find common ground and consensus to form a Lebanese government.

Sources told Al-Jazeera Net that Hariri was outside Lebanon during the visit;

However, she suggested that a meeting be held soon between him and the Qatari Foreign Minister.

During his visit to Lebanon, the Qatari minister called on all parties to give priority to the national interest and to accelerate the formation of the government, stressing that Doha will support any way that leads to that.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs carried a letter from the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, which includes support for forming a government and heal the rift between all political parties, in preparation for opening the door to economic aid to solve the current crisis and contribute to the reconstruction of Lebanon.

Lebanon has been suffering for months from an economic crisis and severe political polarization, as political forces have been unable to form a government since the resignation of Hassan Diab's government, 6 days after the Beirut port explosion on August 4, 2020.
