Zülpich / Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - A 16-year-old from Zülpich called people indiscriminately with his mother's cell phone and claimed to have murdered someone on their property.
The police located the youth and confiscated the cell phone.
As the authority announced on Wednesday, a call in the Dortmund area had triggered the operation the evening before.
Using the number shown in the display of the person called, the police came to the address in Zülpich, where officers found the young person.
He'd told the story of the murder to others on the phone.
"Obviously, the boy was not aware of the scope of his call," said the investigators.
