According to market analyzes, sales of organic food rose by more than 20 percent to almost 15 billion euros last year.

That was a record, said Federal Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner (CDU) on Wednesday at the opening of the world's largest organic food fair, Biofach, in Nuremberg, which will be held online this year.

According to Klöckner, the proportion of organically farmed area is also steadily increasing and is currently around 10 percent.

The goal is to increase the area to 20 percent by 2030.

Around 1400 exhibitors from more than 80 countries will present their innovations at Biofach and the Vivaness natural cosmetics fair, which is being held at the same time.

According to the organizers, trends this year include meat substitute products, foods with little or no sugar, sustainable packaging concepts and natural cosmetics without water
