Bottrop (dpa / lnw) - After an anonymous reference to illegal gambling, the police in Bottrop found 23 people in commercial premises and seized several thousand euros.

The suspects came not only from the Ruhr area and other regions of North Rhine-Westphalia, but also in one case from Hesse and Belgium, as the police announced on Wednesday.

The 22 men and one woman are therefore between 20 and 63 years old.

The investigators assume that even more people had gathered in the commercial premises.

When the officers arrive, several are said to have fled.

According to the information, there were several large tables and a poker table in the rooms, which the police did not want to comment on.

The police are not only investigating because of involvement in illegal gambling, but also because of violations of the Corona Protection Ordinance.
