FSB detained 19 Islamists planning terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus

According to the intelligence service, the activities of the interregional extremist community of the international Islamist organization At-Takfir wal-Hijra (ATVH) *, banned in Russia, were suppressed.

“In February, 19 radicals were detained in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Republic of Crimea, the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region, who, in addition to promoting ideology and recruiting new supporters, planned to commit sabotage and terrorist acts in the North Caucasus on behalf of ATVKh,” the FSB said ...

The extremists were found to have a cache with a machine gun, a submachine gun, cartridges and improvised explosive devices, including a "suicide belt".

The detainees were charged with organizing and participating in the activities of an extremist organization.

10 organizers and active participants were arrested.

* "At-Takfir wal-Hijra" is a religious association recognized as extremist and banned on the territory of Russia (decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of 15.09.2010).
