Celle (AP) - In the trial against the alleged Germany chief of the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS), Abu Walaa, and three co-defendants, the last pleadings of the defense are expected today at the Higher Regional Court in Celle.

It concerns a defendant who was recently released from custody and for whom the prosecution for supporting a terrorist organization abroad is calling for four and a half years in prison.

For Abu Walaa and the other two defendants, the Federal Prosecutor's Office is demanding sentences of between nine and a half and eleven and a half years.

Abu Walaa and the co-defendants are accused of radicalizing young people, especially in the Ruhr area and the Hildesheim area, Islamistically and sending them to IS battle zones.

The men have been on trial for support for IS and membership in the terrorist militia since September 2017.
