With an authoritative double, the prodigy Erling Haaland allowed Borussia Dortmund to leave Sevilla with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday in the round of 16 first leg of C1.

The young Norwegian (20 years old) first sent into the Andalusian nets a clever ball stung by Jadon Sancho in the area (27th), before doubling the bet from the left in counter-attack, on a ball slipped by his captain Marco Reus (43rd).

Previously, Suso opened the scoring for Sevilla with a shot deflected by the foot of Mats Hummels (7th), then Mahmoud Dahoud had equalized with a superb strike from outside the box (19th) ... and replacing him Luuk de Jong gave his team back vain hope at the end of the match, with the reduction of the score on a long free kick taken from the flat of the right foot (84th).

Despite these twists and turns, it was Haaland who was close to the hat trick, with this missile hijacked by Bono's firm gloves in the 34th.

It took at least the genius of the Norwegian prodigy to get Borussia Dortmund out of their torpor.

The German club, who remained on just one win from their last six league games and learned on Monday that current coach Edin Terzic would be replaced by Marco Rose at the end of the season, once again relied on the magic of his young "goleador" to get back on the right track.

- And eight for Haaland -

The brace brings Haaland's total Champions League goals to 18 goals in just 13 appearances in his career.

This season in C1, he has already totaled 8 goals in 5 matches.

"To be honest I think we maybe had more motivation and passion, at least we were more in the right direction. We had been talking among ourselves the last few days, we had a good game plan, Edin (Terzic) did it right ", underlined at the final whistle the serial scorer, one of the only ones to have sounded the revolt in the German locker room.

For Sevilla, who approached this double confrontation in the skin of favorite given the truncated preparation of Borussia, this setback at home seriously compromises its chances of qualification, before the round of 16 return scheduled for March 9 in Germany.

"We did not deserve to lose, but in the end they have one of the best players in the world up front, who created differences in three situations. (...) It also means a lot of their quality and the danger that they create, "noted Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui.

It especially deals a big blow to the beautiful dynamic of the Andalusians, who remained on nine consecutive victories between Liga and Spanish Cup and no goal conceded for a month (January 19 against Alavés, 1-2), and who had just recovered their captain Jesus Navas (recovered from pain in the hip), finally holder for the return of the C1.

Jules Koundé and the curtain "blanquirojo" could not do anything against the offensive power of Haaland and others, and made their worst copy since the start of the season.

They will have to do better on their return to Germany to get their ticket for the quarters.
