Potsdam (dpa / bb) - After the start of the vaccinations with the Astrazeneca preparation in Brandenburg, the Ministry of Health was unable to give an assessment of the concerns about the vaccine on Wednesday.

"It is still too early to be able to make a statement about possible reservations based on the first Astrazeneca vaccination appointments," said Ministry spokesman Gabriel Hesse of the German press agency.

The department had previously sent information about this vaccination offer and appointment allocation to nursing services, inpatient care facilities and all hospitals and rehabilitation clinics.

The employers would have to pass the information on to their employees, said Hesse.

It could be that individual employees have not yet received them.

The Ministry of Health called on nurses and employees in medical facilities on Tuesday to make appointments for first vaccinations with the preparation from Astrazeneca in the respective vaccination centers.

Numerous vaccination appointments are still available.

According to the information, several vaccination lanes have been set up in the eleven vaccination centers in the country.

Brandenburg has so far received 21,600 vaccine doses from Astrazeneca, and the same amount is expected again this Thursday.

According to a delivery overview by the Federal Ministry of Health, a total of 170 400 vaccine doses by the manufacturer are to be delivered by April 1.

The vaccine is less effective than the other two vaccines approved in Germany from Biontech / Pfizer and Moderna.

It was also recently announced that the Astrazeneca preparation in a variant initially discovered in South Africa probably offers less protection against mild and severe courses of Covid-19.
