The Greens received the largest donation in their party history in the super election year 2021.
The party received EUR 500,000 from the pharmaceutical heir Antonis Schwarz on Monday.
That emerges from an overview of the Bundestag.
The Greens confirmed to the “Spiegel” that they had never been given a larger individual donation before.
The money is intended for the federal election campaign and the state election campaigns this year.
According to the report, the previous record sum for the Greens was 300,000 euros.
Schwarz had also distinguished himself as a major donor in the past: in 2019, he gave the Greens 65,000 euros.

Schwarz is the founder of the "Guerilla Foundation", a non-profit company that supports grassroots projects.
According to the company, the group Extinction Rebellion was one of the beneficiaries in 2018.
