An epilogue of two weeks of debates during which the oppositions criticized a text deemed too weak or irrelevant.

The bill against Islamist "separatism" was adopted by the National Assembly at first reading on Tuesday by a solemn vote.

Wanted by Emmanuel Macron and presented as one of the royal markers of the five-year term, the bill "confirming respect for the principles of the Republic" was adopted by 347 votes in favor, 151 votes against and 65 abstentions, before its consideration in the Senate from March 30.
