Following a failed escape attempt in February 2018, Dubai's Princess Latifa Al Maktoum was forced to return to her homeland.

The princess, daughter of the United Arab Emirates' Prime Minister Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktum, tried to escape via Oman.

There she is said to have boarded a boat which was then stopped by the Indian navy.

Latifa Al Maktum must then have been returned to the emirate.

In a video, she told about how she was trapped in the home and beaten after having previously tried to escape.

Her sister Shamsa is also said to have made a failed escape attempt and was imprisoned for eight years, according to Latifa.

Guarded by police

Princess Latifa's friends have received secret video messages in which she states that she is being locked up in a villa and that she fears for her life.

The clips are said to have been recorded on a mobile phone that she secretly received about a year after being captured and returned to Dubai.

According to Latifa Al Maktum, the windows and doors are blocked and the villa is guarded by police who are said to have said that she will never see daylight again.

The friends, among them the Finnish Tiina Jauhiainen who tried to help the princess escape, are now releasing the video material for fear that something may have happened to Latifa Al Maktum.
