As RIA Novosti clarifies, this document calls on the EU to develop a sanctions policy that "will force Russia to abandon its aggressive foreign policy."

“Unfortunately, already in the first days of the new Estonian government’s work, statements were made about the absence of“ grounds ”for building relations with Russia, accompanied by hackneyed quasi-arguments about the threat posed by Russia,” the message says.

Diplomats note that this "impulse" was "picked up by the Estonian parliamentarians."

According to them, the adopted statement adds "a lot of negativity to the already rather tense atmosphere of Russian-Estonian relations."

“If this was the purpose of such a statement, then its initiators, thoroughly mired in the swamp of Russophobia, seem to have achieved this,” the embassy added.

They noted that there is much more to lose - the prospect of developing mutually beneficial cooperation in an atmosphere "devoid of artificially whipped up fears and cultivating the image of an enemy."

Earlier, the State Department said that the United States does not rule out new measures against Russia for "human rights violations."
