The police and the public prosecutor's office searched the practice and living quarters of two Hamburg doctors on Tuesday who are said to have issued false certificates for mask refusers.

The medics, aged 56 and 76, are suspected of violating Section 278 of the Criminal Code in several cases, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

This makes issuing incorrect health certificates a criminal offense.

The public prosecutor's office obtained the decisions at the Hamburg district court, and the searches took place early Tuesday morning.

With the certificates, the patients were released from the obligation to wear a mask to protect against corona in public, as a police spokesman said.

According to the "Hamburger Abendblatt", both doctors are said to be leading figures in the lateral thinking and corona denier scene.

A general practitioner and an oncologist are investigated.

Both are said to be among the initiators of an alliance called “Doctors for Enlightenment”, which considers masks to protect against corona to be superfluous and warns of a “corona forced vaccination”.

In addition, both doctors are said to have appeared several times at protest events of the lateral thinking movement.

End of lockdown required

In front of both practices, some people gathered on Tuesday morning and demonstrated their solidarity with the doctors.

30 demonstrators are said to have gathered in Rotherbaum and around 15 in Winterhude.

The police had been in action with a large number, it said.

The demonstrators are said to have shown banners calling for an end to the lockdown and spreading conspiracy theories.

Called for “rush meetings”

According to the "Abendblatt", one should have previously been called on social media for "rush meetings" in front of the two practices.

There was a request to take pictures of police officers and officials.

2We need these documents as evidence for the International Criminal Court in The Hague, ”the appeal said.

The searches are illegal and should scare other doctors.

"We evaluate these measures as crimes against humanity and are currently working on a criminal complaint."
