It was around 4.40 pm on Wednesday 11 February that a train at very high speed drove straight into a truck that was on its way over the railway outside Salekärr near Uddevalla.

The men in the truck, both in their 35s, died.

- We are pretty sure that it was the student who was behind the wheel, with the supervisor next to him, says Linda Frid.

How it came about that the driving school lent a truck to the men, she does not want to go into right now, not even if the supervisor was approved as such.

- We are taking a closer look at the actual practice driving situation right now.

There is probably reason to return to the matter there, she says.

Did not see the train

However, all indications are that the accident was just an accident.

- Yes, it seems as if the driver has not seen the train, says Linda Frid.

The criminal classification of negligence in traffic and causing another person's death remains the most for the police to be able to take all necessary investigative measures.

The truck was relatively new and relatively newly inspected.

The technical studies have not been compiled yet, but so far there is no indication of an error there.

But the railway crossing lacks both lights and barriers, something that is always a risk factor.

The trains are allowed to run at 120 kilometers per hour on the spot, and so far there is nothing to indicate that the train would run red or too fast.

- The information we have so far indicates that the truck was in motion when the collision took place, and my opinion is that the train hit the front of the truck, says Linda Frid.

Continued investigation

Why the driver did not see the fast-moving train, the investigators still have no answer.

It is being investigated how the view was at the site at the time.

- Admittedly, a truck driver sits taller than others, but he may only have a side window to look through.

It can be difficult, says Linda Frid.

Now the investigation continues, and not just with the police.

- In the event of accidents with trains, it is both us, the Swedish Transport Administration and the company that owns the train that investigate.

We also take part in their investigations, says Linda Frid.
