Residents from the area should keep windows and doors closed, the police said on Tuesday evening.
Ventilation systems should be switched off.
According to the police, the fire started in a warehouse of the recycling company in the Sandreuth district for an initially unknown cause.
Around 60 firefighters fought against the flames that evening.
According to the police, an end to the operation was not yet in sight.
